Old School RuneScape ends Myreque saga with new Grandmaster quest

Old School RuneScape released The Blood Moon Rises, a Grandmaster Quest that concludes the Myreque saga and opens Vampyrium with new bosses including the Maggot King.

Jagex has released The Blood Moon Rises, a Grandmaster Quest for Old School RuneScape that concludes the long-running Myreque storyline. The quest was shown at RuneFest 2025 and is now live for members.

The update adds the Vampyrium area to the game. Vampyrium contains new enemy types, combat encounters and skilling opportunities. A solo boss fight against the Maggot King, also called the King of the Ur-Maggots, is available inside the region. Defeating that boss rewards the Crimson Kisten item. The update also adds new weapons available after completing the quest.

The Blood Moon Rises is classified as a Grandmaster Quest, the game’s highest difficulty tier. It follows Sins of the Father, which was released six years earlier. Players who began the Myreque storyline when it first appeared may be reaching its conclusion now.

To begin The Blood Moon Rises, players must have an active membership and have completed Sins of the Father and A Night at the Theatre. The quest also requires minimum skill levels of 78 Cooking, 74 Slayer, 72 Mining, 72 Smithing, 70 Fletching, 64 Crafting and 57 Magic. Players who do not meet those requirements must raise the listed skills before accessing Vampyrium and its challenges.

The update delivers new high-difficulty content and additional rewards for players who meet the quest and skill prerequisites. Members planning to attempt the quest should confirm they have the required quests and skills before entering Vampyrium.
