Osiris Reborn details classless progression and weapon upgrades

Owlcat Games will use a classless progression in The Expanse: Osiris Reborn with four skill trees; weapons and gadgets can gain high-tier perks that change their behavior. Launch set for Spring 2027.

Owlcat Games has outlined a classless progression system for The Expanse: Osiris Reborn that centers on four skill trees: Marksmanship, Gadgets, Survivalist and Leader.

Players pick an initial specialization at the start, but Owlcat described that choice as only a beginning. As characters gain levels, skills from any of the four trees can be unlocked and combined with weapons and gadgets to form different combat roles.

Weapons and gadgets earn experience and can be upgraded along multiple paths. The developer said some high-tier perks change how an item operates rather than only improving numeric values, allowing a player to evolve a favored weapon or gadget instead of replacing it.

Squad members have individual progression trees. Each companion specializes in certain fields, but their skill paths can be adjusted through specialization choices and gadget upgrades. Players will choose which branches and gear upgrades to apply to shape party roles.

Owlcat presented these progression details alongside other system explanations. The studio set a release window for Spring 2027 on PC via Steam, the Epic Games Store and GOG, and on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

The Expanse: Osiris Reborn is an action role-playing game adapted from The Expanse license. Owlcat has previously outlined the game’s combat and zero-gravity mechanics; the latest update focused on progression and gear evolution.
