Overwatch Rush soft-launches Aug. 31 in Southeast Asia
Overwatch Rush begins a soft launch Aug. 31 in Indonesia, followed by rollouts to Malaysia and the Philippines; the update adds Hero Levels, Brigitte, new modes and maps.
Blizzard’s top-down multiplayer title Overwatch Rush enters a soft launch on Aug. 31, 2026, in Indonesia, with availability in Malaysia and the Philippines in the days that follow. The update brings a Hero progression system, a new Vanguard hero, a rework for an existing hero, two game modes and three maps. The soft launch follows a surprise beta in February and is the next test phase for the game.
The update introduces Hero Levels, a progression system that lets players earn in-game currency through play and spend it to level up specific heroes. Blizzard described the feature as a way for players to shape how individual heroes develop during matches and across play sessions.
Brigitte joins Overwatch Rush as a Vanguard hero reworked for the title’s top-down perspective. Her kit focuses on frontline combat while retaining support abilities for close-range engagements and creating openings for teammates. Lúcio receives a major rework that increases mobility and responsiveness: he can leap gaps, jump up walls and move more freely across maps, and he arrives with an updated ability set based on player feedback.
Two new modes arrive with the soft launch. Duo Free for All matches three teams of two against each other, emphasizing coordinated play in shorter matches. 3v3 Control reduces the traditional objective format to smaller squads, with shorter capture times and wave respawns intended to keep matches moving quickly.
Three new maps are part of the rollout. Narwhal Cove draws on elements from Gibraltar, Hydronet Gardens takes design cues from Cairo, and Mansión Portero is modeled after Dorado. These maps and the gameplay changes will be available to players in the selected Southeast Asian regions once the soft launch begins.
Players in Indonesia will be the first to access the soft launch build on their devices, with Malaysia and the Philippines receiving access in the days after Aug. 31. Blizzard has invited regional players to follow its official channels and community platforms for updates during the soft launch period.
Blizzard will use the soft launch to test gameplay systems, hero balance and new content before any broader release.
