PC Game Pass Removes Eight Titles, Including Crusader Kings 3

Microsoft will remove eight games from PC Game Pass on July 31, including Crusader Kings 3, Mount and Blade 2: Bannerlord, Celeste and Rain World.

Microsoft and Xbox confirmed eight titles will leave PC Game Pass on Friday, July 31. The departing games are Back to the Dawn, Celeste, Crusader Kings 3, Mount and Blade 2: Bannerlord, My Friendly Neighborhood, Rain World, Sniper Elite: Resistance and Whiskerwood.

Paradox Interactive addressed the exit of Crusader Kings 3 and its implications for players who own expansions. Paradox wrote, “We understand this may be disappointing, especially for players who have been enjoying the game through Game Pass.” The company said players who want to retain access to DLC on Xbox platforms must own the base game on the Microsoft Store. Paradox added it will offer discounts on the base game from July 18 through July 31 to give Game Pass users an option to keep the title at a reduced price.

The removals affect a mix of large strategy releases, platformers and smaller early access and indie projects. Celeste and Rain World are established platform titles; Whiskerwood is an early access colony simulation; My Friendly Neighborhood, Sniper Elite: Resistance and Back to the Dawn round out the list of departures.

Microsoft plans new additions to PC Game Pass in the coming weeks. The Planet Crafter is scheduled for July 21 and Halo: Campaign Evolved for July 28. August dates currently listed include Beast of Reincarnation on August 3 and Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy on August 27. Microsoft has also announced longer-term entries such as Minecraft Dungeons 2 and Gears of War: E-Day, and a tentative 2027 lineup that includes Stranger Than Heaven, Persona 4 Revival and Fable.

Subscribers who wish to keep any departing title after July 31 can buy it from the Microsoft Store. In cases where players have purchased expansions while accessing the base game through Game Pass, owning the base game on the store may be required to continue using those expansions.
