Phantom Blade Zero Could Get Sequels, Films and Animations
S-Game has ideas for Phantom Blade Zero sequels and expansions, while animations and films remain possible if the action game performs well commercially, director Soulframe said.
S-Game is considering sequels and expansions for Phantom Blade Zero, while animations and films could follow if the action game performs well commercially, director Soulframe said.
During a studio visit in Beijing, Soulframe discussed the game’s future and said the studio would first wait to see how Phantom Blade Zero is received. S-Game has considered several options but has not committed to projects beyond the game.
“We already have some certain ideas and some things, but let’s see the result of this work first, and that will decide what we proceed with,” Soulframe said. He added that the team wants the game to become popular and succeed commercially before deciding what to develop next.
S-Game is producing Phantom Blade Zero merchandise and is considering other formats for the property. “In the future, it’s possible that we [could] make some animations and even movies around it,” Soulframe said. He described the game’s setting as suitable for developing into a larger original intellectual property.
Phantom Blade Zero includes 2D-animated sequences alongside its cinematic action and combat. Soulframe also referred to the studio’s Year of Dragon celebration trailer from two years ago, which included 2D animation. Similar projects may be considered in the future.
Phantom Blade Zero is being developed as a standalone fantasy world by S-Game. The studio has not announced specific sequel, expansion, animation or film projects. Their development will depend on the game’s reception and commercial results.
