Planet Zoo 2 spotlights African leopard in new video
Frontier released the first Planet Zoo 2 Animal Spotlight on 16 July 2026, featuring the African leopard and urging players to add vertical platforms for climbing and guest sightlines.
Frontier Developments released the first Animal Spotlight episode for Planet Zoo 2 on 16 July 2026. The short video focuses on the African leopard and shows how the animals use elevated structures in their enclosures.
The footage demonstrates leopards climbing platforms and perching above ground level. Frontier notes that correct vertical enrichment increases natural behaviours, while sparse or inappropriate habitat elements can prompt leopards to seek cover and height, leaving enclosures appearing empty to visitors.
The episode outlines behavioural points for management. Leopards are generally solitary except for mothers with cubs, which requires different enclosure layouts and social grouping than species that form social groups.
In the game’s Great Rift Valley Reserve, leopards can be placed across several ecosystems, including dense forest and wetlands. The developer highlights the need to preserve climbing opportunities and clear sightlines when placing the species in different habitat types.
Planet Zoo 2 is scheduled to launch on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S on 13 October 2026. Frontier has set the Standard Edition price at £39.99/$49.99/€49.99 and the Deluxe Edition at £54.99/$64.99/€64.99.
The Animal Spotlight series will continue to profile individual species, focusing on their behaviours and habitat requirements to guide player decisions when building and managing zoos.
