Pocketpair opens Android pre-registration for Never Grave
Pocketpair Publishing has opened Android pre-registration for Never Grave, a Metroidvania roguelite with enemy possession, procedurally generated dungeons and four-player co-op.
Pocketpair Publishing has opened Android pre-registration for Never Grave, a Metroidvania roguelite developed by Frontside 180 Studio. The game is available to pre-register on the Google Play Store; the publisher has not announced a release date and iOS pre-registration details are pending.
The game centers on a character accompanied by a cursed hat that grants the ability to possess defeated enemies. Players can take control of foes to use their unique abilities for combat, puzzle solving and traversal.
Dungeons are procedurally generated, so layouts, enemy placement and challenge combinations change from run to run. Environments noted by the developers include ruins and botanical gardens where players collect materials and artifacts.
Resources gathered during expeditions are used to rebuild and upgrade a village. Players can clear ruins, construct buildings, grow crops and craft items such as food and potions. Upgrades to the settlement increase player survivability and unlock new options for later runs.
The game features boss battles, magical abilities and new traversal skills that open previously inaccessible areas. The mobile version supports up to four-player online co-op and crossplay across devices. Developers have confirmed controller compatibility for mobile play.
Visually, Never Grave uses hand-painted backgrounds and a traditional Japanese-inspired 2D animation style, which the team says gives the world a storybook look.
Pocketpair Publishing is the publishing label created by the team behind Palworld to support independent projects. Never Grave is listed as one of the label’s upcoming mobile titles.
The Android pre-registration page is live on Google Play. The publisher expects to provide further platform and release details in the coming months.
