Pokémon Champions launches on iOS and Android

Pokémon Champions debuts on iOS and Android as a competitive, turn-based arena game. Players can import Pokémon via Pokémon Home; a launch event through Sept. 2 grants a free Raichu and Mega Stones.

Pokémon Champions launched on iOS and Android as a turn-based mobile game focused on arena battles. The title emphasizes short matches and competitive play rather than exploration or traditional role-playing progression.

Players build a roster of six Pokémon and face human opponents and computer-controlled challengers in large arenas. Matches center on team composition and tactical choices during turns, with an interface designed for brief, decisive encounters.

The game supports transfers from the Pokémon Home app. Players with eligible Pokémon captured in other entries, including Legends: Arceus and Pokémon Go, can link Pokémon Home and move those creatures into Pokémon Champions for use in its battle formats.

A launch campaign running through Sept. 2 gives new players a free Raichu and Mega Stones that enable evolution into Mega Raichu X and Mega Raichu Y. The event is available to players who download the game during the promotional period.

Player reaction to the release has been mixed. Some users have responded positively to the streamlined, combat-focused design, while others have criticized the removal of open-world exploration and deeper RPG elements common to mainline Pokémon titles.

The release coincides with the franchise’s 30th anniversary year and follows recent activity on mobile platforms. Pokémon Champions offers quick matches, roster-building and cross-title compatibility via Pokémon Home.
