Project Origin: X MMORPG soft-launches in South Korea
Project Origin: X, a sci-fi open-world MMORPG where players called Awakeners fight rogue AI, has soft-launched on Android in South Korea.
Carrot Technology Co., Limited has soft-launched Project Origin: X, a sci-fi open-world MMORPG, on Android devices in South Korea. The title is available on the Google Play Store for users in that region. The developer has not provided a timeline for an iOS release or a wider international launch.
Project Origin: X is set in 2077, where advances in quantum computing and neural network artificial intelligence have reduced the separation between physical and virtual environments. In the game, a runaway AI force takes control of major urban centers. Players assume the role of Awakeners, equipped with combat suits and enhanced abilities to confront machine threats and investigate the causes of the crisis.
The game offers an open-world urban environment with neon-lit streets, underground markets and ruined battlefields. Combat is real time and centers on a set of powers that include briefly stopping time, altering gravity and unleashing large-scale lightning attacks. Players can develop individual combat styles and combine abilities to handle different enemy types and environmental obstacles.
Project Origin: X includes an AI Partner System that pairs players with intelligent companions. These partners are designed to analyze enemy weaknesses during encounters and coordinate follow-up attacks. The game supports cooperative multiplayer, allowing players to team up for raids against large machine bosses and other shared challenges.
Carrot Technology has not disclosed details on monetization, server architecture or long-term live-service plans. Visuals follow a high-tech neon cyberpunk aesthetic. For now, only Android users in South Korea can download and play; the developer has not announced specific testing goals or a rollout schedule for additional platforms or regions.
