Rainbow Six Tactics: XCOM-style turn-based game revealed

Ubisoft revealed Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Tactics at Gamescom 2026. The single-player, XCOM-style turn-based game is scheduled for PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC in 2027.

Ubisoft revealed Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Tactics during Gamescom Opening Night Live 2026. The studio presented the title as a single-player, turn-based tactical entry in the Rainbow Six franchise, with a planned 2027 release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.

The game replaces the series’ real-time shooting with squad-level, turn-based encounters. Players will control a full squad of operators, plan movements and coordinate timed actions to complete objectives. The reveal trailer shows operators moving through destructible environments and staging planned attacks rather than engaging in run-and-gun combat.

Rainbow Six Tactics retains the franchise’s operator system. Between missions, players can level up characters, upgrade a headquarters and unlock new skills and equipment. The campaign progression in the trailer hints at a wider narrative involving a global conspiracy as operators gain new capabilities.

The gameplay footage highlights an operator named Tzano using stealth, breaching and coordinated assaults that exploit environmental destruction to create tactical options. The presentation underscored careful positioning and planning, and showed that errors can put the entire squad at risk.

Rainbow Six Tactics follows the 2022 release Rainbow Six Extraction and departs from the franchise’s traditional real-time format by focusing on deliberate, turn-based missions and single-player progression.

Ubisoft positioned the game for current-generation consoles and PC and plans to provide additional details about mission structure, operator lineups and progression systems ahead of the 2027 release window.
