Reanimal DLC The Prisoner Adds Two Playable Characters

THQ Nordic released The Prisoner DLC for Reanimal on Aug. 8, 2026. The update adds two playable characters, The Soldier and The Prisoner, opens previously locked areas and serves as the first of three standalone chapters in the Expanded World series. The content is available on platforms that host Reanimal’s co‑op experience, including PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and Switch 2.
The Prisoner places players in control of the two new characters as they move through streets from the base game that lead into new locations. The chapter introduces fresh environments and scripted sequences that relate to the base game’s narrative and previously hinted story elements. Developer Tarsier created the original game world and THQ Nordic is publishing the DLC.
The update also includes technical changes. The HDR tone mapper has been adjusted to improve visual balance on supported displays. The patch addresses several crash causes that affected the main game and adds fixes intended to improve the stability of online co‑op sessions.
THQ Nordic listed two known issues with the release. In the Junkyard, players who respawn with no delay before a driving segment may see a brief camera desynchronization; the camera is expected to realign once the bike begins moving. During the chapter’s chase sequence, companions can sometimes become stuck if ordered to hide after the midpoint; the recommended workaround is to reload from the most recent checkpoint.
The Prisoner is offered as a standalone chapter, allowing players to experience its story independently of other DLC while adding context to the base game’s lore. THQ Nordic confirmed two further Expanded World chapters are planned; each will provide a separate story and additional locations.
The update targets both single‑player and online modes, focusing on narrative content and network stability. The new chapter builds on character motivations and elements introduced in the original release by Tarsier.
