Roblox Announces AI Game Tools, Browser Play and Wallet

At RDC 2026 Roblox unveiled AI that can generate games, browser and offline play, chat upgrades, faster rendering, and a Wallet plus a physical Card for creators.

Roblox outlined product and business plans at the Roblox Developers Conference 2026, announcing new AI creation tools, chat updates, browser and offline play, faster rendering, and payment features for creators.

Presenters at RDC included Lead Engineer Nick Tornow, Head of Foundation AI & Infrastructure Anupam Singh and Chief Business Officer Enrico D’Angelo. Lead Engineer Nick Tornow highlighted that “friends can share a text or social media post, and someone can click it and drop right into the game.” The company said browser play will be available by the end of 2026 so users can join games without installing the app.

Roblox plans chat changes to make friend-to-friend communication easier. The updates add a dedicated friend tab, emoji support, AI-powered speech-to-text and continued in-game voice chat. Executives framed the changes as a response to last year’s age-based chat restrictions, aiming to simplify conversations inside games.

Offline modes and standalone apps are scheduled for mid-2027. Those features will allow certain game experiences to run without a continuous internet connection and let players join sessions without first entering the broader Roblox platform. Roblox also demonstrated reductions in loading and rendering times and announced graphical updates including additional blur and shadow effects and orthographic 2.5D-style camera support.

Anupam Singh described a set of AI-driven creation and testing tools. The company demonstrated a system that can generate a complete game from a single prompt in roughly 10 to 15 minutes, character improvements that let non-player characters pick up and interact with objects, and Roblox Reality tools to change environments and weather without manual code edits. Roblox also showed AI-driven testing tools that simulate player behavior so creators can test experiences without relying solely on live users. Singh said, “we believe that Roblox Reality will give players and creators the ability to change environments – photorealism is very brutal in gaming, but we are going to change that with Roblox Reality.”

On the business side, Roblox unveiled a Roblox Wallet that will let developers receive daily payouts in their chosen currency and view a breakdown of revenue sources. Wallet analytics will roll out in the United States in December 2026, with the United Kingdom and the European Union slated for the first half of 2027 and a global rollout to follow. Roblox also introduced a physical Roblox Card issued in partnership with payments firm Airwallex that allows creators to spend earnings outside the platform. Enrico D’Angelo clarified that the card “does not mean that Roblox will become a financial institution or run as a bank.”

Roblox provided timelines for major items: browser play and initial wallet analytics by the end of 2026, wallet expansion in early 2027, and offline modes with standalone apps in mid-2027. The company said more detailed developer tools and rollout schedules will be shared as features move closer to release.
