Ruler of the Skies adds Mega Rayquaza and Mega Gallade

Ruler of the Skies expansion for Pokémon TCG Pocket arrives July 31 and introduces Mega Rayquaza ex, Mega Gallade ex and Mega Metagross ex, plus new Supporters and a QR deck-share feature.

DeNa confirmed that Ruler of the Skies will arrive on July 31 for Pokémon TCG Pocket. The update adds several Mega Pokémon, including Mega Rayquaza ex, Mega Gallade ex and Mega Metagross ex, along with new Supporter cards and additional non-Mega Pokémon.

Card details released so far show Mega Rayquaza ex has an attack called Mega Burst that requires one Fire and one Electric energy. After using Mega Burst, Rayquaza discards all attached energy. Mega Gallade ex has an attack named Resonating Blade that costs three energy (one Fighting and two colorless) for 100 damage, and it deals an extra 50 damage if a Supporter card was played that turn. Mega Gallade ex is listed with 220 HP.

A new Supporter card, Wally, can add one energy to a Stage 2 Pokémon. That effect can reduce the number of turns needed to power up Mega evolutions that require additional attached energy.

The update includes a QR code feature for sharing and importing deck lists between devices. DeNa also announced a new booster pack category that guarantees a four-diamond or higher rarity card when certain conditions are met; the developer has not published the exact conditions for that guarantee.

Since the app’s launch, decks that require two different energy types have had fewer dedicated support cards than mono-type decks. The Ruler of the Skies set adds more Mega options and Supporter effects that may affect how players build and power up those decks.

Pokémon TCG Pocket is available on the App Store and Google Play as a free-to-play app with in-app purchases.
