RuneScape adds five-player Homesteads, lifts house guest limits

The From The Ground Up update introduces shared five-player Homesteads and removes visitor caps so players can host unlimited house parties in Gielinor.

Jagex released the From The Ground Up update for RuneScape as part of the game’s 25th anniversary refresh. The update is available now in Gielinor and adds five-player Homesteads while removing visitor limits for player-owned houses.

Homesteads let up to five players share a single housing plot. Members can access each other’s rooms, unlock shared benefits and work together on building and decorating. Players can mark plots as Public Homesteads to show designs to others and allow open visits.

The update raises the Construction skill cap to level 120 and replaces the traditional build-and-destroy training loop with a furniture crafting system. Players progress by crafting new furniture, which provides a steady stream of unlockable items tied to player advancement.

More than 650 new pieces of decor and furniture are included, along with multiple house styles for interior and exterior customization. New interactive items include a Weather Vane that changes outdoor conditions around a homestead and a Music Box for playing selected tracks. Storage options have been expanded with trunks, chests and an aquarium. Display furniture additions include display cases, a Prestigious Cape Stand and a Skillscape Stand for showing archaeological finds, capes and other achievements.

The update adds functional installations aimed at players who prefer adventuring. Available items include an Armor Repair Stand, a Gilded Altar and several types of cauldrons that grant different benefits useful for questing and combat preparation.

Social features are a central element: homestead members receive shared benefits for cooperative play, Public Homesteads let creators browse others’ designs, and visitor numbers are no longer restricted, allowing larger in-game gatherings.

The update trailer states, “At the heart of the new player Owned Housing Experience is freedom.” From The Ground Up follows earlier visual upgrades to player avatars released in the spring and is part of a wider campaign of updates for RuneScape’s 25th anniversary.
