RuneScape opens Plugin Hub with five community tools
RuneScape’s first five official community plugins are now available through the in-game Plugin Hub, following an open beta and an email verification requirement.
RuneScape has launched its first five official community plugins through the in-game Plugin Hub. The tools became available after an open beta that let players test them.
Players can open the hub through the toolbox icon in the game’s ribbon menu. It allows them to browse, install, manage and remove plugins. The plugins are hosted on the third-party platform mod.io.
The initial release includes Quest Helper, Menu Entry Swapper, Tilemarkers, Entity Hider and Job Gauges. Quest Helper supports 69 quests. Tilemarkers highlights locations in the game world, while the other plugins change menu interactions, hide entities or display additional game information.
Jagex reviews and approves the plugins for use in the RuneScape client. The tools can change parts of the interface and game presentation, but they cannot perform actions automatically for players. Menu Entry Swapper, for example, cannot add a “Buy All” option to shops or make “Teleport” and “Drop” the default left-click actions for items.
Players need a verified email address to use the Plugin Hub. Jagex recommends using the email address linked to a Jagex Account to simplify verification.
Jagex plans to release more community plugins in batches roughly every two weeks alongside game updates. A group of developers known as the API Council reviews requests for new API features. Plugin creators can submit suggestions through Discord and other community channels.
