Shrek 2 Remastered Leaks on Xbox Store Before Expected Reveal
Shrek 2 Remastered briefly appeared on the Xbox Store on Oct. 16, ahead of its expected announcement at the ID@Xbox Showcase on Oct. 20.
A Microsoft Store page for Shrek 2 Remastered went live on Oct. 16 before Microsoft removed it. The listing identified Aspyr as the developer of the updated version of the 2004 action-adventure game.
The page described improved textures, an enhanced user interface, 4K resolution and remastered cutscenes. It also listed Photo Mode and Cheat Mode as new features.
The game will support up to four players through local couch co-op, online multiplayer and combined online and local play. Players can switch between Shrek, Donkey, Puss in Boots, Fiona and the Gingerbread Man. Each character has different abilities for combat and puzzle sections.
The game follows the characters through locations inspired by the Shrek 2 film, including Far Far Away. Its cooperative gameplay allows players to change characters during levels and use their abilities to progress.
The store page did not include a release date or price before it was removed.
Shrek 2 Remastered had previously appeared in a September leak involving Steam achievements. That leak also referenced unannounced games including Persona 6 and Kingdom Hearts IV. Shrek 2 Remastered appeared briefly in a teaser for the ID@Xbox Showcase, which is scheduled for Oct. 20.
