Stop Killing Games Cuts Ties With GTA 6 Leaker
Stop Killing Games has disavowed the source of leaked Grand Theft Auto VI assets and will stop publishing or promoting material that originates from the leak.
Stop Killing Games announced this week it will no longer associate with the person responsible for leaking Grand Theft Auto VI files and will not publish or promote content that originates from those materials.
In a statement published on its channels, the site said the leaked files were unauthorized and that it will remove or stop promoting posts that rely on them. The outlet said it will block accounts linked to the leak from submitting tips and will delete past posts that can be clearly traced to the unauthorized footage or files.
The statement declined to identify the individual by name and described the behavior as inconsistent with the site’s editorial standards. “We do not support the release of stolen or illicitly obtained assets and will refuse further contributions tied to the leaker,” the outlet wrote.
The announcement follows several high-profile leaks of Grand Theft Auto material that prompted takedown requests and legal scrutiny from the game’s publisher and label in the past. Unapproved leaks of major game projects have previously led rights holders to seek removal of infringing material from platforms.
Readers and community members reacted on social platforms, with some users welcoming the decision and others questioning whether any leaks should be covered. The site emphasized a distinction between reporting confirmed news and amplifying raw materials taken from private builds. “We will continue to cover official announcements and verified developments related to Grand Theft Auto VI,” the statement added.
Stop Killing Games said it will review internal procedures for vetting sources and will be more selective about accepting user-submitted media going forward, while maintaining coverage of verified, publisher-backed information about the game.
