Stranded Deep 2 reveals endless river and floating bases

North Beach Games announced Stranded Deep 2, featuring an endless river biome in a desert wilderness, modular floating homes and a Steam page live for Steam’s PvE Survival Crafting Fest.

North Beach Games has announced Stranded Deep 2 and published a Steam page and teaser trailer as part of Steam’s PvE Survival Crafting Fest. The developer provided an early look at the game’s setting and core systems but did not give a release date or platform list.

The sequel moves the series from the open ocean to a desert wilderness of rivers, canyons, dunes and valleys. Sam Edwards, co-creator of the original title, returns as Creative Director for the project.

The central feature is an endless river network. Rivers run through canyons and dunes and serve as primary routes for exploration. Players can travel by kayak or raft to reach handcrafted locations. The river system will include rapids, hazardous bodies of water and navigational challenges.

New terrain tools let players dig into sand, alter ground and redirect sections of river. The developer describes these mechanics as part of survival and base-building strategies, allowing players to reroute water or excavate to access resources and hidden areas.

Base building supports both mobile and stationary options. Players can craft floating homes that sail downriver or construct permanent bases along riverbanks. Crafting appears modular: players will choose materials for tools and structures based on resources they find in the world.

Core survival systems from the original return in updated form. Characters must manage health, hunger, thirst and exposure while exploring. Wildlife will form a living ecosystem where some animals hunt and others roam; predators and prey will interact within a food chain.

Community and multiplayer features are planned. The Cartographer tool has been expanded into Cartographer 2.0 to let players create, share and play custom locations across platforms. Cooperative play is in development to allow players to team up to survive and explore.

North Beach Games says the initial world will be handcrafted and that the game will grow over time through updates adding new biomes, wildlife, crafting options and player-created content. Beyond the Steam page and teaser, concrete release windows and platform details have not been announced.
