The Captain: Pocket Edition Arrives on iOS and Android

The pixel-art sci-fi adventure The Captain: Pocket Edition is now available on iOS and Android for £6.99. It has no in-app purchases.

The Captain: Pocket Edition, a pixel-art point-and-click adventure from Sysiac Games, is now available on the App Store and Google Play. The game costs £6.99 and does not include in-app purchases.

Players control Captain Thomas Welmu, a Spacefleet science officer stranded on the far side of the galaxy. He is carrying a device that could stop forces heading for Earth and must find a way home.

During the journey, players can recruit crew members, build alliances and decide which alien civilisations survive. Each planet presents a dilemma with several possible outcomes. These decisions affect the story and the fate of different worlds.

Space battles take place between planets, though players can sometimes avoid combat and continue their mission. The game combines comedy with more serious choices and draws influence from Star Trek: The Next Generation, Space Quest and Monkey Island.

Sysiac Games was founded by Swedish developers Peter Hedin and Benny Eriksson, who have worked together since childhood. Tomorrow Corporation, the publisher of Little Inferno and Human Resource Machine, is releasing the mobile edition.

The game received financial backing from Indie Fund in 2017. It launched on PC in 2021 and was released for Nintendo Switch in 2022.
