The Expanse: Osiris Reborn previews Ganymede raid at Gamescom
At Gamescom 2026 Owlcat Games showed mid-game footage of The Expanse: Osiris Reborn on Ganymede, where the Captain and J infiltrate a Protogen facility before a bioengineered creature is released.
Owlcat Games used Gamescom 2026 to reveal new gameplay for The Expanse: Osiris Reborn focused on a mid-game mission set on Ganymede. The sequence follows the Captain and J, the Captain’s sister, as they enter a secret Protogen facility to recover data taken from Pinkwater Station.
The footage, released in two videos during Gamescom’s Game Show, begins with a stealthy approach. Players navigate restricted zones using exploration, platforming and dialogue options. Early scenes show the pair slipping past Protogen employees, finding alternate routes into secure areas and using conversations to avoid open combat. The Captain’s crew provides remote technical support and covers J during tense moments.
The mission shifts when an unknown third party arrives at the facility gates and releases a bioengineered creature inside the base. The operation changes from a planned infiltration into a survival scenario, forcing a rapid transition from stealth and traversal to combat and escape. Environments in the sequence show multiple paths and small side routes that can alter how objectives are reached.
Gameplay elements visible in the footage include cinematic storytelling, branching dialogue choices, companion interactions that affect outcomes, and a mix of platforming and firefight encounters. The clips illustrate how objectives can evolve immediately during a mission and how crew support factors into both stealth and combat segments.
Owlcat has previously outlined the game’s role-playing framework and companion mechanics in earlier developer updates. The company has scheduled a closed beta in April and set a release window for Spring 2027. The Gamescom footage provides a closer look at mid-game stakes and mission design for the title.
