The Witcher 3 Remaster Keeps Saves and Trophies
CD Projekt Red says The Witcher 3 Remastered will carry over players’ save files and unlocked achievements and trophies. The free upgrade launches Sept. 29 on PC and modern consoles.
CD Projekt Red has confirmed that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered will preserve players’ existing save files and any unlocked achievements or trophies. The remaster is being issued as an update rather than a separate purchase.
Marcin Momot posted on X that the remastered edition is treated as an update to the existing game installation, which is why save files transfer automatically and previously earned trophies and achievements remain on platform accounts. The studio provided the information in response to frequent community questions ahead of the release.
The free upgrade arrives Sept. 29 for current owners on PC and modern consoles. It will be available for users who own the game on GOG, Steam, the Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. CD Projekt Red also listed pre-purchase options on Battle.net and confirmed a version for Nintendo Switch 2.
The remastered package includes the Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine expansions. CD Projekt Red has not indicated any additional changes to save-file compatibility beyond the automatic transfer to the updated edition.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt first launched in 2015 and has since been released across multiple platforms. The remastered edition is intended to deliver updated visuals and performance improvements while keeping player progress and platform rewards intact.
