The Witcher 3 Remastered needs about 45 GB on most platforms

CD Projekt RED’s Remastered edition of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt requires about 45 GB of storage on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, and roughly 50 GB on Nintendo Switch 2. The updated version is scheduled for release on September 29, 2026. Existing owners on PC, PS5 and Xbox will receive the remaster as a free update; the Switch 2 release will appear as a separate application.

CD Projekt RED community manager Marcin Momot provided the platform breakdown and noted the PC download listed on Steam is around 45 GB but can vary depending on installed language packs. The company has said owners must have the original game installed on PC, PS5 or Xbox before obtaining the update.

On Switch 2, the remaster is packaged as its own title rather than an update to the existing port. That version is expected to occupy about 50 GB on the console’s internal storage or on an inserted storage card.

The Remastered edition includes higher-resolution assets and other visual and technical enhancements compared with the 2015 release, which contribute to the larger file sizes. Gamers should verify available disk space in their platform’s store page or installer before downloading.

The original The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt launched in 2015 and has received multiple updates and expansions. CD Projekt RED has applied current-generation visual and performance improvements in the Remastered edition and is using different packaging and distribution methods across platforms.
