Thief: The Dark Project Remastered Sets Dec. 3 Release

Thief: The Dark Project Remastered will launch Dec. 3 on PC and consoles with the 1998 game, Thief Gold content and a new campaign, The Tarnished Mirror.

Thief: The Dark Project Remastered is being developed on Nightdive Studios’ KEX Engine and will include Looking Glass Studios’ 1998 stealth game. It will also include the extra missions and updates released in 1999 as Thief Gold.

The remaster’s new standalone campaign, The Tarnished Mirror, was created by the team behind the fan expansion The Black Parade. Set between Thief: The Dark Project and Thief II: The Metal Age, it follows Garrett after a theft leads to his imprisonment, uneasy alliances and a journey into a drowned necropolis inspired by the fictional city of R’lyeh.

The campaign will add new factions, locations and enemies, with Lovecraftian horror forming part of its story. The Tarnished Mirror will become part of the official Thief canon. The remaster will support mods, including The Black Parade.

The digital Standard Edition will cost $29.99. The $34.99 Deluxe Edition will include an art book, the official soundtrack and an excerpt from an upcoming Thief: The Dark Project novelization.

Physical editions will be available for PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2. The $29.99 Standard Physical Edition will include the game. The $39.99 Steelbook Edition will add a Steelbook case and printed manual. The $69.99 Deluxe Trapezoid Edition will include the game, manual, Steelbook and a Remaster Diary in packaging based on the trapezoid-shaped box used for the original 1998 release.

Thief: The Dark Project Remastered will launch for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch and PC through Steam, the Epic Games Store and GOG. The Xbox version will support Xbox Play Anywhere. Owners of the Nintendo Switch version will receive a free upgrade to the Switch 2 Edition.
