Tomb Raider: Catalyst reportedly slips to 2028

Amazon Gaming CEO Jeffrey Gattis indicated Tomb Raider: Catalyst is expected in 2028 and will follow Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, set for Feb. 12, 2027.

Jeffrey Gattis, CEO of Amazon Gaming, indicated Tomb Raider: Catalyst is expected to arrive in 2028 and would follow Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, which is scheduled for February 12, 2027. The remark implies Catalyst will not launch alongside next year’s title.

Crystal Dynamics, the series developer, has not confirmed a release date for Catalyst. The 2028 timing should be treated as unconfirmed until the studio issues a formal announcement.

Observers note several practical reasons for spacing the two releases. Launching two major entries close together can split the player base and complicate marketing efforts. A later release for Catalyst would allow separate promotional campaigns and give players time to engage with each game.

Catalyst is reported to be the first entirely new mainline Tomb Raider since Shadow of the Tomb Raider in 2018 and is described in reports as the largest title in the franchise to date. That scale would support a longer development period and could explain a later launch window.

No platform list or specific launch window has been announced for Catalyst. Until Crystal Dynamics or Amazon provide official details, the series’ fan base will rely on occasional updates from company executives. Legacy of Atlantis remains scheduled for February 12, 2027.
