Unhinged launches June 30 on Netflix, uses phone as controller
Netflix will release Unhinged exclusively on June 30, 2026. The Night School Studio horror game uses players’ smartphones as the main controller and requires a Netflix membership.
Netflix Games will release Unhinged on June 30, 2026, as an exclusive title on the platform. Developed by Night School Studio, Unhinged is a first-person psychological horror survival game that uses the player’s smartphone as the primary controller.
The story follows Ava, a woman trapped in her apartment building while a Category 5 hurricane rages outside. Her only regular contact is Claire, a friend who lives across the street and stays connected by phone. As outages extend the blackout, exits lock and the apartment’s environment grows hostile, with tense encounters and the possibility that Ava is not alone.
Players launch Unhinged from Netflix’s games library and scan an on-screen QR code to pair their phones. The connected device maps real-world movements to Ava’s hands and flashlight. Incoming in-game calls and text messages ring, vibrate and play through the player’s actual phone. The game uses audio and haptic feedback to keep the phone tied to on-screen events.
Unhinged has two play modes. Story Mode removes timers and the possibility of death so players can follow the narrative without timed challenges. Standard Mode restores timed survival sequences and the risk of character death.
The voice cast includes Zoë Kravitz as Ava, Sadie Sink as Claire and Troy Baker as the apartment superintendent, Ben. Composer Jason Hill is credited with the soundtrack.
The title will be available only through Netflix’s games section on June 30, 2026. An active Netflix membership is required to download and play Unhinged. Additional information and updates are listed on Netflix’s Tudum site.
