Wardogs Season 3 Could Arrive Early After Season 2 Issues

Bulkhead is considering bringing Wardogs Season 3 forward after Season 2 failed to deliver the intended fresh start. No reset is planned this weekend.

Bulkhead is reviewing the timing of Wardogs Season 3 after acknowledging that Season 2 did not create the intended fresh start. The developer will not reset the game this weekend and plans to examine progression, the in-game economy and balance before setting a new schedule.

Season 2 has reached daily highs of up to 300,000 active players. Some players have obtained end-game equipment, including tier-four armor and main battle tanks, within days. Bulkhead believes the faster progression restored much of the late-game experience that the wipe was intended to remove.

“Season 2 was meant to be a fresh start, and for a lot of you it hasn’t felt like one,” the studio wrote. “We sped up progression deliberately and tried to balance the game better, as set out in the patch notes, but it was the wrong call.”

CEO Joe Brammer described a conflict between players who spend many hours in Wardogs and those with less time to play. “We can’t balance for both,” he said. UX Director Howard Philpott added that Season 2 was designed to favor players with limited time, but many players quickly regained high-level gear and vehicles.

Bulkhead will not carry out an immediate reset because it would affect players currently progressing through Season 2. The developer is monitoring the game’s economy and other systems. It plans to change areas that are clearly out of balance while waiting on features where player views remain divided.

The studio is considering releasing Season 3 and some of its content earlier than planned. Bulkhead described the potential release as a way to provide a “proper fresh start.” The developer linked the plan to Wardogs’ early-access status, which allows the team to test changes and respond to player feedback.

A mid-season 2.5 update is planned to add limited or primitive servers, although the final name has not been chosen. The servers will restrict the weapons, equipment and vehicles available at lower progression levels. Brammer said the option would let players avoid high-powered equipment without requiring Bulkhead to adjust the game’s balance for every type of player.
