Warframe Reveals Tau Star Chart and 67th Frame, Brysko

Digital Extremes has shown Warframe’s Tau star chart and Brysko, its 67th Warframe. The free expansion is scheduled to launch in December 2026.

Digital Extremes has revealed Warframe’s Tau star chart and Brysko, the game’s 67th Warframe, ahead of the free Tau expansion’s launch in December 2026.

Tau will have a separate star chart with two initial locations: Perita and Fornax. Players must complete the Prologue to Tau, which requires them to finish the available story content.

Perita begins at World Cedar Oasis, a hub controlled by the Cleaving Glaive syndicate. The area was changed by players’ actions in The Old Peace and will serve as their starting hub in Tau. Its missions will include familiar Warframe activities and new environmental hazards. A sandstorm, for example, will damage players during a Survival mission.

Fornax is a ring-city controlled by a mafia-like syndicate. Manifold 90-BF, one of its areas, introduces a group linked to that syndicate. Falling from the map in Fornax will kill players instead of returning them to safety. Creative Director Rebecca Ford described the area as “not going to be a cozy teleport simulator.”

Tau will permanently add 10 older Prime sets to Perita’s loot pool. Players will be able to farm the required relics there instead of waiting for the items to return through the regular rotation.

The expansion will add new damage types that can combine with Impact, Puncture and Slash, Warframe’s three physical damage types. The combinations will have unique status effects. New mods found in Tau will let players add Tau damage to their weapons. Existing physical-damage mods will also receive buffs, with more details planned for Devstream 199.

Brysko will be earned by progressing through Tau’s new quest chain. His passive ability allows his Hound companion to revive him after he falls in battle. His first ability throws a deck of cards that deals high electric damage. His second sends the Hound to levitate several enemies and distribute damage among them.

His third ability drains Brysko’s health over time while granting lifesteal to his ability damage and increasing his damage output. Players can activate it multiple times to increase both the health drain and the damage bonus. Design Director Pablo Alonso described the ability as a risk-and-reward system: the first activation is safer, while repeated activations increase the danger.

If Brysko dies after pushing the ability too far, control switches to his Hound. The player must collect cores and return them to Brysko to revive him. His ultimate, Corecracker, is a hand cannon that can empty its magazine rapidly through alternate fire. Each kill creates a core that attacks nearby enemies.

Brysko is voiced by Matt Mercer. Digital Extremes will announce the exact Tau release date during Warframe’s November Devstream. Devstream 199 is scheduled for Nov. 27. Warframe is free to play on Steam and through the Digital Extremes launcher.
