Everstone Studio and NetEase Games will release Heaven’s Threshold, the second chapter of the Hidden Mountain expansion for Where Winds Meet, on Aug. 20 (UTC). The update moves the playable area past the mountain city and up into the mountain cliffs.
Heaven’s Threshold continues directly from the first chapter. The new cliff area opens gradually through a community event called Cloudtop Ascent, in which the wider playerbase contributes to unlocking sections. The chapter’s main story focuses on a dispute among the ancient craftspeople who built the mountain’s machines: some want to keep their inventions hidden, while others want to use them to help local people.
The expansion adds two world bosses, Inkpincer Scorpion and Cloud-Seizing Serpent. Both are large iron constructs described as built by the mountain’s old inventors. A bug at the original Hidden Mountain launch briefly allowed some players to fight these bosses; those encounters were later removed, so many players will see the fights in full for the first time on Aug. 20.
A new multi-level dungeon, Evershift Labyrinth, features rotating gears, interlocking wooden joints and shifting floor panels. Players will face security constructs while manipulating the environment to progress. The chapter also adds a campaign called Mirkvale, set in a nearby valley controlled by rogue blacksmiths. In that story, players work with a local child to restart old waterwheels and machinery and investigate why the settlement fell silent.
Two Mystic Skills arrive with the chapter. Bursting Nine fires nine arrows intended to slow and lock down groups of enemies. World to Sword converts excess healing power into flying energy blades, allowing a tradeoff between support and offensive output.
To coincide with the Ghost Festival, the update introduces Reflection Temple, a solo survival mode set in a haunted mountain shrine where players must follow strict rules and uncover clues to escape. The patch also adds Chasing with Kite, a racing mode playable solo or with others, and Pangolin Peddler, a trade-routing activity that rewards players for establishing supply lines between remote villages.
Heaven’s Threshold will be available on Aug. 20 (UTC) as part of the Hidden Mountain expansion for Where Winds Meet, expanding the game’s mechanical combat, exploration and community-driven progression.
