The Witcher 3 Remastered shows first Switch 2 gameplay

CD Projekt RED showed first gameplay of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered on Nintendo Switch 2 at Gamescom, featuring upgraded visuals, Joy‑Con 2 motion controls and uneven frame rate.

CD Projekt RED streamed the first gameplay of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered running on Nintendo Switch 2 during a REDstream at Gamescom. The preview arrived ahead of the game’s September release window.

The footage highlighted clearer environment details, higher-resolution textures and a presentation closer to the versions on current consoles and PC. The developer described the build as an early preview and said optimisation work remains before launch.

The studio demonstrated motion-based movement using Nintendo’s Joy‑Con 2 controllers. The recorded sequences show movement bugs in the early build and other minor issues that remain to be addressed.

Performance varied during the stream. The game did not consistently hold 30 frames per second and showed visible dips in frame rate at points during the demonstration.

CD Projekt RED contrasted the Switch 2 build with the original Switch release, which required compromises in visual fidelity and frame rate to run on that hardware. Switch 2’s improved specifications provide more performance headroom for higher-quality visuals, longer draw distances and more detailed environments.

The company announced additional content tied to the remaster at Gamescom and listed optimisation and technical fixes among the remaining tasks. The studio framed the presentation as an intermediate build and confirmed further tuning will continue ahead of the September release.
