Saber Interactive revealed Stuntman Hollywood at PlayStation\u2019s summer showcase. It is the first new entry in the Stuntman series in 19 years and pairs stunt-driving gameplay with licensed scenes from Universal films.<\/p>
Players assume the role of a professional stunt driver who follows a director\u2019s instructions on closed sets. Objectives include hitting precise lines, making jumps, executing drifts and matching timing. The game uses a star-based scoring system to grade performances and encourages repeated runs to improve scores.<\/p>
Scenes recreate or reimagine moments from Universal properties including Fast and Furious, Back to the Future, Miami Vice and Earthquake. Vehicles such as the DeLorean and several muscle cars are featured, each with distinct handling. Saber demonstrated levels at Summer Game Fest that emphasized tight vehicle controls and a focus on scoring.<\/p>
The concept began when the team reviewed available film licenses. Tim Willits, Saber\u2019s chief creative officer, described discovering the idea while searching an internal database: “Literally, there was this database you could search through all the names of all the different IPs,” he recalled. Todd Hollenshead, head of publishing, said Universal offered a broad selection and permitted the team to use short sequences from many titles rather than create a single-franchise game.<\/p>
Saber prioritized accessibility alongside challenge. The studio plans multiple difficulty settings and modes that range from director-led scenes to free-form stunt runs. Willits noted the team devoted substantial time to balancing difficulty so casual players can complete scenes while more dedicated players can pursue perfect runs.<\/p>
Replayability is a central design element. Developers presented scoring depth and star-based targets as the main incentive for players to return to scenes to improve scores and attempt different stunt lines.<\/p>
