Each CS2 knife is assigned a numerical subclass ID. The Butterfly Knife uses ID 515, for example, while the Karambit uses 507.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There are two useful commands:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>subclass_create [ID]<\/strong> spawns a new knife where you are aiming.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>subclass_change [ID]<\/strong> changes an existing dropped knife into another model.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The first method is usually easier: drop your current knife, look at an open section of the ground, create the model you want and pick it up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The second method is convenient when repeatedly comparing knives. Drop the knife, aim directly at it and use subclass_change with the next ID.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">These commands can help you compare:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Draw and inspect animations.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Attack sounds and animations.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The size and position of each knife on screen.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>How the model looks with your viewmodel settings.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Visibility under different map lighting.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>How the knife feels while running, jumping and switching weapons.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Knife commands do not unlock an item or add it to your Steam inventory. The spawned knife only exists during the current practice session and may disappear after death, a round restart or a map change.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1600\" height=\"900\" src=\"https:\/\/news.goranked.gg\/en\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/cs2-knife-commands-how-to-give-any-knife.jpg?v=1785053621\" alt=\"Knife Commands CS2: How to Give Yourself Any Knife - news.goranked\" class=\"wp-image-2478\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"how-to-use-the-cs2-give-knife-command\"><strong>How to Use the CS2 Give Knife Command<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The CS2 give knife command uses subclass_create or subclass_change. Here\u2019s the detailed action algorithm for how to give yourself a knife in CS2 command.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"1-enable-the-developer-console\"><strong>1. Enable the Developer Console<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Open Counter-Strike 2 and follow these steps:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Select <strong>Settings<\/strong> from the main menu.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Open the <strong>Game<\/strong> tab.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Find <strong>Enable Developer Console (~)<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Change the setting to <strong>Yes<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Press the tilde key (~) to open the console.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If the console does not open, check its assigned key in the keyboard settings. Switching to an English keyboard layout may also help.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"2-start-a-practice-match\"><strong>2. Start a Practice Match<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Launch a local practice map or join a private server that you control. Knife commands will not work on official Valve servers because you cannot enable protected server commands there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After the map loads, open the console and enter: <strong>sv_cheats 1<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This enables cheat-protected commands for the current server. Using sv_cheats in your own practice match does not add anything to your inventory or modify your matchmaking account.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A local server is also useful for practicing other mechanics. Enable the <\/strong><strong>Drop Knife<\/strong><strong> Command<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Players normally cannot drop their knives in CS2. The Huntsman Knife CS2 command is subclass_create 509, while the Butterfly Knife CS2 command is subclass_create 515.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"how-to-test-all-cs2-knives\"><strong>How to Test All CS2 Knives<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The fastest way to test all CS2 knives is to transform the same drop knife repeatedly rather than creating a new weapon every time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Use this process:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Enter sv_cheats 1; mp_drop_knife_enable 1.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Equip your current knife and press G.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Aim directly at the dropped knife.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Enter a subclass_change command from the table.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Pick up the changed knife.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Press F to play its inspect animation.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Switch to another weapon and back to test the draw animation.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Try both attack buttons and listen to the sounds.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Drop the knife again and repeat the process with another ID.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When comparing knives, check more than the standard inspect animation. Different CS2 knives can vary considerably in how they look and feel during normal play.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Pay attention to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The initial draw animation.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Repeated weapon switching.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Standard and rare inspect animations.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Left- and right-click attacks.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Running and jumping animations.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The amount of screen space occupied by the model.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Visibility in bright and dark areas of the map.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Knife sounds and animation speed.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To compare knife models under different lighting conditions without running across the entire map, you can use noclip. You may need to draw or inspect a Butterfly Knife, Falchion Knife, Skeleton Knife, Nomad Knife or another model several times before seeing every available sequence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you are looking for CS2 knife commands with skins, standard console commands only change the knife model. They do not let you choose a specific finish, float value, paint seed or pattern.
