Players can find the Black Needle inside Sester’s Bastion after they cleanse the Sester’s Gate beacon on the far east side of the map. Cleansing the beacon unlocks the dungeon and grants access via a lift.

After taking the lift and dropping into the dungeon, an enemy waits; clear it before progressing. Early in the Bastion there are two disconnected platforms with two bells. Use the sidearm to shoot both bells to trigger a mechanism that creates a stone walkway linking the platforms.

Continue along the path to a bridge area with enemy camps. Clear the camps and locate three bells: two on either side of the bridge and a third beneath it near the far end. Shooting all three extends the bridge so players can cross. Defeat the enemy at the bridge end and use the nearby platform to reach the boss arena.

The boss encounter unfolds in two phases. First players face the Twin Sesters, one ranged and one melee. Many players focus the ranged Sester first and then finish the melee Sester. After both are defeated, Stray Sesters spawns. Defeating Stray Sesters drops the Black Needle and a Sester’s Crest, which can be traded for 3,000 gold.

After the fight, cleanse the corruption in the area, collect the three Ova that appear, and return to the beacon. Cleansing the beacon clears the entrance to a nearby corrupted gate that leads to one of the game’s main bosses.

Weapons and sidearms can be purchased from the vendor Merrick in Marrow Keep, but some purchases cost a lot early in the game, so players may prefer to obtain gear through exploration and boss drops like the Black Needle. Combat in Mortal Shell 2 depends on the Shells a player uses, the Seals they equip, and the weapon they wield, with weapons providing most of the damage in fights.

Sester’s Bastion contains ambushes and platform puzzles that require shooting bells to progress. Players should keep a sidearm ready, clear enemies before attempting to bridge gaps, and select targets carefully during the Twin Sesters fight to reach the Stray Sesters and claim the Black Needle.
