Rockstar has uncovered identifying information about the individual using the alias CyberLeek, which the company links to the unauthorized release of Grand Theft Auto VI development materials. The studio reported its investigation tied the alias to online accounts and activity associated with access to internal files.

The probe began after a large set of unreleased GTA VI footage and build files appeared online in September 2022 and in later incidents. Rockstar reported investigators combined forensic analysis of account activity, server logs and file access records to trace the flow of the leaked material and to link the alias to real-world accounts. The company has shared findings with law enforcement and continues to collect evidence.

Rockstar has not released full details, citing the investigation’s active status and legal constraints. The studio reported that its records include data connecting CyberLeek’s online presence to accounts used to distribute or advertise the leaked content. The company declined to confirm whether the person identified has been arrested or charged.

The leaks exposed internal pre-release footage and development builds of GTA VI and led to scrutiny of the developer’s systems. Rockstar described the incidents as breaches of its development environment and reported that the releases compromised work-in-progress materials. The developer labeled the events criminal and sought remedies through courts and law enforcement.

Investigations into similar leaks typically trace usernames, email addresses, transaction records and file metadata to build a chain of custody for stolen materials. Rockstar’s public statements indicate a comparable forensic approach. The studio pledged it would continue to pursue “all available legal remedies” and work with partners to limit future breaches.

Identification of the alias represents a development in the inquiry. Further legal and investigative steps are expected as Rockstar and law enforcement determine whether criminal charges or civil claims will follow and whether additional parties were involved.
