Kojima announced the change on X and said his studio spent months seeking a new partner while development continued.<\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A PlayStation statement posted on X said the company had \u2018\u2018made the difficult call to step away from collaborating with Kojima Productions on PHYSINT after careful consideration,\u2019\u2019 and reiterated a long working relationship with Kojima and his studio.<\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Kojima wrote that Kojima Productions spent the following three months seeking advice and holding talks across the industry before agreeing to publish the title with Xbox. Xbox confirmed it will publish PHYSINT in partnership with Kojima Productions.<\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Xbox chief executive Asha Sharma described the arrangement as a creator choice, writing that \u2018\u2018creators have options about where they bring their ideas to life\u2019\u2019 and that Xbox was \u2018\u2018honoured Kojima picked them.\u2019\u2019 Kojima characterized the deal as an expansion of his relationship with Xbox beyond OD, the studio\u2019s existing Xbox project. The two companies also plan to collaborate on film and television projects.<\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Technical and platform details remain unresolved. PHYSINT was previously reported to be built on Guerrilla Games\u2019 Decima Engine as part of the PlayStation collaboration; it has not been confirmed whether that engine arrangement will continue under Xbox publishing. No release date has been set. Kojima previously estimated the game would take \u2018\u2018another five or six years\u2019\u2019 to complete.<\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The publisher change increases the possibility of a PC release. Earlier this summer Sony signalled it would limit PC releases of its first\u2011party titles to online multiplayer games and stop bringing single\u2011player, narrative\u2011driven titles to PC. Xbox leadership has said it will selectively restore console exclusivity for some games while continuing to bring many titles to PC.<\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">PHYSINT was first revealed at Sony\u2019s January 2024 State of Play. Since that reveal, there has been no gameplay footage or major updates released publicly.
