Prototype footage and screenshots have revealed Assassin’s Creed Destiny, a cancelled collaboration between Ubisoft and TiMi Studio Group. The game was set in China’s Qin Dynasty in 206 BCE and was planned for current platforms rather than mobile devices.

Ubisoft and TiMi had not announced the project before its cancellation. Images and footage came from portfolios belonging to developers who worked on the game. Most of the material came from a prototype dated February 2025.

Destiny was set nine years after Assassin’s Creed Jade, which takes place in 215 BCE. Its story followed the collapse of the Qin empire after the death of China’s first emperor, when rival forces fought for control of the region.

The prototype showed a female assassin entering a sacred palace under attack by the forces of Xiang Yu, a historical warlord. A mission involved finding a mysterious artifact, and the footage included an early boss encounter with Xiang Yu.

The gameplay included stealth attacks, parkour, takedowns and the leap of faith. It also featured a spinning umbrella-like weapon. Ink-brush-style icons represented abilities, while a yin-yang symbol appeared on the health bar. Footage of a male character performing parkour suggests the game may have included character selection, although the model could have been a placeholder.

TiMi cancelled Destiny after reorganizing its operations into four teams in January 2025. The project did not continue after the restructuring. The change came as Tencent reduced its focus on partnerships involving Western franchises and placed more attention on Chinese-developed games and casual party titles.

TiMi’s Montreal division, which had been working on another Ubisoft project called Invictus, closed earlier in 2026. Invictus was described as a stylized cyberpunk open-world game led by former Assassin’s Creed creative director Ashraf Ismail.

Assassin’s Creed Jade remains in development despite reports that hundreds of developers moved to Tencent’s party game DreamStar. Ubisoft has not commented on Destiny or confirmed the details shown in the prototype footage.
