Monster forms alter movement and combat options; players use specific transformations to solve platforming puzzles, reach new areas and defeat enemies as they advance through the Monster World Kingdom.<\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ryuichi Nishizawa led development of the game. He co-founded Westone Bit Entertainment and worked on the Wonder Boy series before developing Monster Boy as a personal project. The game uses detailed 2D artwork and modern production techniques.<\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Controls have been adapted for touch screens while retaining jump-and-run mechanics and the mix of melee combat and form-based abilities.
