Apex Legends tops EWC 2026 week one with 74% peak rise

Apex Legends’ final at Esports World Cup 2026 drew more than 440,000 peak viewers, a 74% increase from EWC 2025 and the event’s largest single-match audience in week one.

Opening-week broadcasts at the Esports World Cup 2026 generated 20.1 million Hours Watched, a 10% increase from the same stage of EWC 2025. Dota 2 was the largest contributor, accounting for just over 8 million Hours Watched. Apex Legends and Valorant produced lower total hours in comparison.

Apex Legends produced the largest single-match audience of the week. The tournament final reached more than 440,000 peak viewers, 74% higher than the peak for Apex at EWC 2025. The deciding 10th map also outdrew the ALGS 2026 Championship by about 20,000 live viewers. The Japanese roster UNLIMIT entered the final as an underdog, won three of the final four rounds and secured the title on the final map.

One factor in the higher Apex audience was broader availability: unique channels streaming the Apex playoffs rose from roughly 200 during the ALGS 2025 Midseason Playoffs to more than 300 for the ALGS 2026 Split 1 Playoffs. UNLIMIT’s run coincided with a major increase in Japanese viewership; Japanese was the top language for both Hours Watched and peak concurrent viewers for the Apex event.

Valorant’s final drew a peak of 246,000 viewers as 100 Thieves defeated NRG, a 45.6% decline from the previous year’s final. Several popular teams failed to reach the late stages, including Paper Rex, Karmine Corp and Rex Regum Qeon, while Gentle Mates and Team Heretics were eliminated in the first round. Valorant was carried by a larger number of channels than in 2025, but peak viewership on the official Esports World Cup YouTube feed was roughly one-third of the 2025 final. Several major community casters posted smaller peaks than a year earlier; one high-profile channel drew nearly three times fewer peak viewers, and another leading caster did not co-stream the tournament this year.

Organizational metrics reflected match exposure and progress through brackets. NRG led all organizations in Hours Watched after advancing further in the Valorant group phase and playing one additional series. The EWC Club Championship standings after week one placed 100 Thieves, UNLIMIT and Natus Vincere at the top with 1,000 points each. Natus Vincere’s total included points from Luis “DarkAngel” Gomez, who won the Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves tournament.

Community casting represented more than 58.5% of total Hours Watched in the opening week, driven largely by independent Dota 2 streams. Alexey “Solo” Berezin led individual channels in Hours Watched, focusing on matches featuring Team Spirit, Team Yandex and other Eastern European squads. Lucas “Squeezie” Hauchard registered the highest community-caster peak with more than 70,900 concurrent viewers during Gentle Mates’ Valorant quarterfinal against NRG. Jack “NiceWigg” Martin covered both Apex Legends matches and the Valorant finals.

The second week of the Esports World Cup runs July 13–19 and will include decisive matches in Mobile Legends: Bang Bang and Dota 2, plus the opening of Free Fire and League of Legends competitions. Tournament results and updated viewership statistics are available through the EWC Hub.
