Battlefield 6 developer keeps Area 51 Easter egg secret
Battlefield 6 seasonal developer Nicholas Bombray declined to confirm whether the Area 51 map, due in Season 5, contains an Easter egg.
Battlefield 6’s Area 51 map is scheduled to arrive with Season 5. Nicholas Bombray, a member of the game’s Seasonal Creative team, declined to confirm whether the map contains a hidden Easter egg.
“I cannot confirm nor deny any Easter egg in Area 51,” Bombray said during a discussion about hidden content in the series. Area 51 is a U.S. military site in Nevada known for its secrecy.
Bombray described Easter eggs as an informal part of Battlefield’s development process. Developers can create hidden content independently and then present it to the wider team for approval.
“Sometimes someone just builds it on his own, not telling anybody, and presents that software. We’re like, oh, should we ship that? Can we ship that?” Bombray said. He added that Easter eggs “materialize one way or another.”
Battlefield 6 has brought back series Easter eggs such as rare reload animations and a drivable couch. Earlier games included hidden discoveries such as a megalodon and a yeti, giving players reasons to inspect maps for unusual objects and details.
Bombray’s comments do not confirm whether Area 51 contains an Easter egg. Players will be able to search for hidden content when the map becomes available in Season 5.
