BlizzCon 2026 to Replay 2018 Heroes of the Storm Final
BlizzCon 2026 will stage a one-day Heroes of the Storm showcase replaying the 2018 HGC final between Dignitas and Gen.G, with four Dignitas players and Jeong ‘KyoCha’ Won-ho returning.
Blizzard will stage a one-day Heroes of the Storm showcase at BlizzCon 2026 that replays the 2018 HGC grand final between Dignitas and Gen.G. Four members of Dignitas’ original roster will return to the stage and Jeong ‘KyoCha’ Won-ho is the only returning player from Gen.G.
The showcase is part of the Blizzard Classic Cup, a cross-title esports program at BlizzCon 2026. The Classic Cup pairs current competitions such as World of Warcraft Arena, the Mythic Dungeon International and the Overwatch World Cup with reruns of notable legacy matches. Blizzard described the planned legacy contests as ‘just a taste of what’s in store with the Blizzard Classic Cup’ and said the program may include additional historic matchups.
Other legacy rematches scheduled for the Classic Cup include a StarCraft Remastered match between Lim ‘BoxeR’ Yo-hwan and Kang ‘Nal_rA’ Min, a StarCraft II match between Gregory ‘IdrA’ Fields and Jang ‘MC’ Min-chul, and a Warcraft III matchup between Yoan ‘ToD’ Merlo and Zeng ‘TeD’ Zhou. TeD has won four of the pair’s six previous encounters.
Heroes of the Storm has not had sustained development or a regular esports league since the end of its organized competitive era. The game continues to receive occasional balance patches and updates. Blizzard has not announced plans to restart regular HotS league play.
BlizzCon will present the Classic Cup matches as exhibition content within the show’s competitive schedule. Attendees and remote viewers will see the one-day HotS replay and the other legacy rematches during the event.
