Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 becomes standalone on PC and consoles July 7

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will be available as a standalone download on July 7. The game will no longer launch through the Call of Duty HQ app on PC and consoles, according to a post on the official Call of Duty Updates X account.

Call of Duty HQ arrived in November 2023 as a unified launcher for recent entries. At launch, Activision described it as the “front door” to the franchise on PC and consoles, built to bring modern titles together.

Initial reaction on social media has been largely positive, with players welcoming the ability to run Black Ops 6 independently of HQ.

The change has also prompted speculation about potential ports of Call of Duty: Black Ops and Call of Duty: Black Ops II for the HQ library. No plans have been announced.

Black Ops 6 released in 2024 and remains part of Treyarch’s Black Ops series. The shift affects how players download and launch the title but does not alter its status in the franchise.
