Company of Heroes 3: Final Stand review — roguelite wave mode
Company of Heroes 3: Final Stand is a standalone roguelite wave‑defence mode with five maps, four factions, a persistent perk system, 12 waves and a $29.99 price with launch discounts.
Relic released Company of Heroes 3: Final Stand on July 29, 2026. The title is a standalone roguelite wave‑defence mode that converts Company of Heroes 3’s real‑time strategy mechanics into run‑based horde gameplay. Final Stand retails for $29.99, with a 20% discount for existing Company of Heroes 3 owners and a 10% launch discount.
Players defend a central headquarters across three lanes, spending resources to spawn units to repel successive enemy waves. Each run comprises 12 scripted waves with stronger boss encounters at intervals. An optional endless mode becomes available after completing Wave 12.
Between runs, a persistent perk menu lets players unlock permanent boosts such as increased damage, damage mitigation, faster units and higher starting resources. Perks remain active for subsequent runs and can be reset or disabled before a new run.
Difficulty options range from Easy to Expert, with additional unlockable Expert 1+, 2+ and 3+ tiers for higher challenge. The game shows enemy approach directions on some difficulties and includes periodic coordinated follow‑up attacks after enemy waves.
Final Stand offers four playable factions: the United States, Britain, the Wehrmacht and the Afrika Korps. Unit selection during runs is limited to two infantry types; the vehicle roster includes transports, light tanks and heavy tanks.
The mode includes five maps: Fall of Sousse, Gela Beachhead, Qattara Depression, The Alpine Wall and Torrente Ruins. Visuals follow the series’ established art style; a reviewer noted textures and environmental detail showed signs of age compared with recent strategy releases.
A reviewer who tested the mode across several sessions completed all 12 waves on Normal but could not clear Expert. The reviewer reported that after five or six playthroughs the limited map count and unit options produced a sense of repetition. The reviewer noted the 20% owner discount reduces the effective price to roughly $20 for existing Company of Heroes 3 owners.
Relic positioned Final Stand as an add‑on experience rather than a full expansion and left scope for future content additions.
