Dawn of War 4 Battlefield Report: Blood Ravens vs Orks

A new Battlefield Report for Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War 4 shows Blood Ravens Space Marines and Orks contesting Energy Zones, revealing differences in unit costs, squad size and reinforcement style.

The developer preview for Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War 4, hosted by Creative Director Jan Theysen and Senior Game Designer Elliott Verbiest, focused on multiplayer matches between the Blood Ravens Space Marines and Orks. The segment demonstrated how players capture and hold Energy Zones to score and control the map. The game is scheduled for release on 17 September 2026.

The Blood Ravens rely on advanced weapons and specialized units. Their heavy guns can inflict high damage, but many units consume larger amounts of energy and operate in smaller squads. Players using Blood Ravens must select units with specific roles and manage energy resources to maintain pressure on contested zones.

Ork gameplay emphasizes massed forces and reinforcement. Ork players build large groups and use upgrades that increase unit size and durability. Matches shown in the preview featured Ork strategies that focused on sending sustained waves to overrun objectives and outnumber opponents at key moments.

Engagements on the maps varied from tight fights around a single Energy Zone to larger, chaotic battles when multiple zones were contested. Map control and the timing of reinforcements affected outcomes for both factions. Each side uses different tools and pays different costs to achieve control: the Blood Ravens trade squad size for firepower and energy management, while Orks trade precision for numbers and momentum.

The Battlefield Report followed a recent story-focused update and provided a closer look at multiplayer mechanics ahead of launch. The preview highlighted core systems players will encounter when the game releases.
