Diablo 4 Season 15 Restores Diablo II Runeword Crafting
Season 15 lets players combine specific runes with white items in the Horadric Cube to recreate classic Diablo II unique items.
Diablo 4 Season 15 restores multiple Diablo II runeword crafting recipes by allowing players to combine specific runes with white items in the Horadric Cube. The feature surfaced after the season launched in mid-September 2026, following a brief delayed start caused by server issues.
Players found the recipes while examining Season 15 loot, which includes new unique runes. Streamer DiEoxidE posted a video showing that placing Tal and Eth runes into the Horadric Cube with a white body armor produced the classic Stealth chest armor. Streamer Wudijo amplified the test and community members reproduced additional recipes using the same method.
Runes were introduced to Diablo 4 in the Vessel of Hatred expansion as Ritual and Invocation types that generated and consumed an in-game resource called Offering. The Season 15 runes function differently: when the correct runes are combined with the appropriate base item in the Horadric Cube, the result is a named unique item that matches Diablo II runeword outcomes. The Horadric Cube was added to Diablo 4 in the Lord of Hatred DLC and is the game’s primary crafting interface.
Community contributors compiled and verified a list of recreated runewords through in-game tests. Reported examples include Stealth created with Tal + Eth on chest armor; Call to Arms with Amn + Ral + Mal + Ist + Ohm on a weapon; Enigma built from Jah + Ith + Ber on chest armor; Spirit from Tal + Thul + Ort + Amn on a shield; Phoenix from Vex + Vex + Lo + Jah on a shield; and Infinity from Ber + Mal + Ber + Ist on a weapon. A fuller set of recipes has been assembled by players based on repeatable results.
Season 15 coincides with Blizzard’s 30th anniversary celebration for the Diablo series. The runeword crafting items are appearing in season loot and operate through the Horadric Cube, indicating the mechanic is accessible within the game’s official systems. Players have been sharing reproduction steps and locations of required runes and base items to help others locate them during Season 15.
The recipes were discovered through community testing and streamed demonstrations rather than detailed listing in official patch notes. Blizzard’s announced roadmap includes an Amazon class for Diablo 4 next year and a separate Diablo 5 release scheduled for 2029.
