Eterspire revamps fishing with 10 tools and Fish Sticks
Eterspire overhauled fishing in its 2026 content roadmap, adding 10 tools, level-based fish unlocks to level 100, removing bait, adding a Fishing Guild map and a Fish Sticks currency.
Eterspire’s developer has overhauled the game’s fishing system as part of its 2026 content roadmap. The update introduces 10 new fishing tools, unlocks new fish at five-level intervals through level 100, removes bait requirements, adds a dedicated Fishing Guild map and creates a new in-game currency called Fish Sticks.
The studio rebuilt the fishing mechanics and progression. Players now gain access to a new fish every five levels up to level 100. Species are distributed across different in-game locations, and the update assigns specific tools and level requirements for each catch. Bait is no longer required; fishing requires only the correct tool and the player level.
The 10 new tools expand where players can fish. Equipment ranges from basic nets for beginners to specialized rods designed for extreme environments, including a pole intended for lava fishing. Each tool is tied to location and level, changing which species are reachable and how players approach the activity.
Rewards and the in-game economy were updated. Fish are categorized by rarity and grant varying amounts of gold. Fish Sticks is a new currency earned through fishing; the studio says it can be spent on cosmetics and other in-game rewards. The Fishing Guild map provides a central area for the activity, with a fishing pier and vendors who accept Fish Sticks in exchange for items.
The update adds fishing-related quests that reference the new progression and locations. These quests appear to give players objectives tied to specific fish, tools and map areas, and they integrate Fish Sticks into reward paths.
Previous versions of Eterspire’s fishing system required bait and had fewer location-locked species and tools. The current design replaces bait with level-based unlocks, adds multiple tool types for different environments, introduces a dedicated currency and centralizes related vendors and quest-givers on the Fishing Guild map. The studio describes the overhaul as a streamlining of mechanics and an expansion of content for players who use the minigame.
