Final Fantasy 14 Mobile to shut down in September
Square Enix and Tencent announced Final Fantasy 14 Mobile will close on Sept. 30, 2026. The game launched in mainland China in June 2025; purchases and new registrations were suspended on July 18.
Square Enix and Tencent announced the closure of Final Fantasy 14 Mobile, with servers and the official website scheduled to shut down on Sept. 30, 2026. Customer support will remain available until Oct. 15, 2026. The companies suspended in-game purchases and blocked new user registrations on July 18.
The title launched in mainland China in June 2025 and never reached a global release. The planned international launch has been cancelled, leaving the mobile spin-off available only to players who accessed it in China during its run.
In a joint statement, Square Enix and Tencent said they were ending their licensing agreement, “citing adjustments to business operations and changes in the market environment” as the reason for the closure.
Players were told that purchases and registrations will remain suspended through the shutdown timeline and were directed to the game’s support channels for information on refunds and account options.
Square Enix previously confirmed that another mobile title, Final Fantasy 7: Ever Crisis, will end service on Oct. 6, 2026. That shutdown will leave the game’s episodic compilation of Final Fantasy 7 content incomplete, including a planned adaptation of the Before Crisis prequel that has not been released outside Japan.
Both mobile closures occur in the weeks before two single-player Final Fantasy releases: the HD-2D title Final Fantasy Resonance on Oct. 22, 2026, and Final Fantasy 7 Revelation, scheduled for spring 2027.
