GTA VI locked to 30 FPS on all consoles, no performance mode

Rockstar confirmed Grand Theft Auto VI will run at 30 frames per second on PS5, PS5 Pro and Xbox Series X|S and has no performance-mode details to share.
Rockstar Games confirmed that Grand Theft Auto VI will run at a locked 30 frames per second on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 5 Pro and Xbox Series X|S. The studio told content creators visiting Rockstar North there is a single 30 FPS mode across all consoles and that platform-specific resolution details have not been finalized.
The single 30 FPS mode means there will be no option at launch to trade resolution for a higher frame rate. Rockstar indicated it has no further details on a separate performance mode and noted the target could still change before release or be adjusted via a post-launch update.
Developers attribute the frame-rate target to the game’s simulation-heavy open world. Dense NPC populations, traffic systems, physics and AI increase CPU demand and constrain frame-rate targets on current consoles. The PlayStation 5 Pro’s primary hardware change over the base PS5 is a stronger GPU while the CPU remains largely unchanged, so improvements on the Pro are expected to focus on resolution and visual detail rather than a direct jump to 60 FPS.
Rockstar has not confirmed whether options such as a 40 FPS or 60 FPS mode will be added at or after launch. For players seeking higher frame rates, a future PC release would be the most likely path to smoother performance; Rockstar has historically released PC versions after console launches, and no PC release date or window has been announced for GTA VI.
Grand Theft Auto VI is scheduled to launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on November 19, 2026. Resolution and other platform-specific performance details remain unconfirmed.
