HoYoverse reveals Nodusfall, dark fantasy co-op RPG
HoYoverse revealed Nodusfall at Gamescom 2026, a dark fantasy cooperative action RPG with MMO elements built in Unreal Engine 5 where players hunt towering mythic beasts in open worlds.
HoYoverse unveiled Nodusfall during Gamescom 2026’s Opening Night Live. The studio described the title as an original dark fantasy cooperative action RPG with MMO elements and showed a trailer featuring cooperative boss battles in open-world settings created in Unreal Engine 5.
Players assume the role of Weavers navigating a world in which the gods no longer hold power. The footage focused on coordinated hunts against oversized mythic beasts that roam large environments and can tower over settlements, suggesting large-scale encounters are a primary gameplay focus.
Combat sequences in the trailer emphasized stamina-based dodge rolls, heavy-weapon swordplay and team coordination to exploit enemy vulnerabilities. The presentation included dozens of dragons, massive monsters and towering titans that change the scale and pacing of fights.
HoYoverse confirmed Nodusfall is being developed in Unreal Engine 5 and showed high-fidelity creature models and expansive, detailed environments. The studio indicated the game’s visuals adopt a darker, more realistic style compared with its earlier, stylized titles.
Developers referenced MMO-like features paired with cooperative action-RPG systems but did not specify how multiplayer, progression or matchmaking will work. The reveal did not include platforms, a release date, business model details or a schedule for further gameplay information or testing.
Early audience reactions drew comparisons between Nodusfall’s scale and tone and other dark fantasy and monster-hunting games. HoYoverse presented Nodusfall as a new intellectual property separate from its live-service franchises such as Genshin Impact, Honkai: Star Rail and Zenless Zone Zero.
