Modern Warfare 4 PC Requires TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot

Infinity Ward requires TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot in PC UEFI/BIOS for the Modern Warfare 4 beta and at launch to support upgraded RICOCHET anti-cheat and planned remote verification on Oct. 23, 2026.

Infinity Ward announced that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 will require TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot on PC for the upcoming beta and at the game’s launch on Oct. 23, 2026. The studio linked the requirement to an expanded RICOCHET anti-cheat system and a planned remote verification process at launch.

The studio said the combination of on-device integrity checks and remote verification will apply to supported systems. The requirements affect players who want to access the PC beta and the full game at release.

To check if TPM 2.0 is active on a Windows PC, open the Run dialog (Windows key + R), type tpm.msc and press Enter. If TPM 2.0 is active, the Status field shows “The TPM is ready for use.” If the console shows “Compatible TPM cannot be found,” the module may be disabled in the BIOS/UEFI or the system may not have TPM support.

To enable TPM, restart the PC and enter the BIOS or UEFI setup during startup, commonly by pressing Delete, F2 or Esc. In firmware settings look for TPM, which may be labeled Intel PTT or AMD fTPM, and enable it. Save changes and exit the firmware interface, usually by pressing F10. TPM 2.0 is a requirement for Windows 11 and is available on many Windows 10 systems.

To check Secure Boot, open System Information by typing msinfo32 in the Windows search bar. Check the BIOS Mode entry; it should read UEFI. Secure Boot State will show ON, OFF or not supported. If Secure Boot is off, restart to firmware and enable Secure Boot under the Boot or Security settings.

If the Secure Boot option is unavailable or greyed out, ensure the firmware is set to UEFI mode and disable Legacy Boot or Compatibility Support Module (CSM). If the system drive uses MBR rather than GPT, Secure Boot may not work; convert the drive to GPT and ensure Windows is installed in UEFI mode. Some motherboards require restoring factory keys in the Secure Boot menu before Secure Boot can be turned on.

After enabling TPM and Secure Boot, restart the PC and launch the Modern Warfare 4 beta or game client. If the game still fails to run, contact Activision Support or the PC or motherboard manufacturer for troubleshooting. Users unfamiliar with BIOS or UEFI settings are advised to seek assistance from a technician or the hardware vendor.

Infinity Ward plans to deploy the upgraded RICOCHET anti-cheat with these hardware requirements to expand detection capabilities on supported systems and to operate a remote verification system at launch on Oct. 23, 2026.
