Modern Warfare 4 Season 1 is scheduled to launch Nov. 6 with new maps, modes, weapons, operators and cosmetic rewards. Two Halloween modes will arrive before the season begins: Possession on Oct. 29 and Infected on Oct. 30.
Possession is a party mode in which eliminating an opponent immediately transports the player to the opponent’s location. The feature can help players reach objectives, though the arrival point may be dangerous. Infected will pit survivors against zombified players, who must eliminate opponents to add them to the infected team.
Season 1 will add three medium-sized multiplayer maps to the regular rotation. Backstab is set in a war-damaged town, while Canyon uses narrow routes between tall rock formations. Shoot House returns with its familiar layout in a new North Korean setting. The midseason update is expected to add Ministry, set at the Global Peace Summit, and Overflow, which features a factory surrounded by farmland.
The update will add Kill Block to Crash. The mode will use three fixed slabs selected from combinations that were popular during the Modern Warfare 4 beta. Shipment, another compact map, is already available.
Three multiplayer modes are planned for the season. Grind will require players to collect Dog Tags from defeated opponents and deposit them in one of two banks. Drop Zone will focus on controlling a location that changes during a match, with killstreak packages periodically falling into the area. Gauntlet 1v1 will use a winner-stays-on format, with players able to wager trophies during each round. Counter Attack is planned for the midseason update.
The DMZ mode will introduce two operators, XERO and Blix, and a new location called X01. The facility is located near Hajin and contains new equipment and gear that will initially be classified.
Warzone will add Hajin and Zodiac and bring back Verdansk and Rebirth Island. Infinity Ward is scheduled to provide more information about Warzone on Nov. 2.
Season 1 will include the Wager Match event, which will feature Gauntlet 1v1 and allow players to risk trophies for rewards including weapon attachments. A later Joint Fire event will offer an XP bonus to players who join a squad.
The season’s battle pass will contain 100 tiers. The premium pass will include a catch-up system that guarantees buyers at least 50 rewards.
