Movie Tycoon: Film Studio Sim arrives on mobile

Movie Tycoon: Film Studio Sim is available on Android and iOS. Players build studios from 1960 to 2030, write scripts, cast actors and manage productions; free trial, then one purchase.

Blacksnow games has released Movie Tycoon: Film Studio Sim for Android and iOS. The mobile simulation lets players run a movie studio across five periods from 1960 through 2030. A free trial covers the first studio; a single one-time purchase unlocks the full game.

The game begins in 1960 and moves through defined industry eras up to 2030, reflecting transitions from traditional sets to CGI, motion capture, streaming and virtual-reality premieres. Each era imposes different technology options and audience expectations.

Players select a genre, theme and target audience, then assemble a three-act script using story cards that change narrative outcomes. Production requires allocating budget and resources across acting, sets, stunts, atmosphere, sound and special effects to meet audience demand and financial limits.

Casting is driven by a talent system in which actors follow careers: they can rise in popularity, reach peaks, decline and retire. An actor’s career stage affects box-office potential and the studio’s reputation, so timing and fit are factors when signing performers.

Studio management tasks include hiring and training crew, planning marketing campaigns, setting distribution strategies, researching new film technologies and deciding whether to greenlight sequels. The game introduces random events that can alter production schedules and release plans. An annual Golden Cat awards ceremony offers nominations and trophies that can increase a studio’s visibility.

Visuals use a clear, colorful management-sim style. Promotional artwork and some in-game elements include imagery that appears to be AI-generated.

The mobile release packages decades of content, customizable production options and long-term studio growth mechanics. The developer positions the game as a single-purchase title after the initial trial period.
